This weekend it was time to move our chicks to their new home. We got up early Saturday morning and packed up the eight chicks,
and took them on a car ride to the neighbor of the kids' grandparents. We arrived at a beautiful piece of property and met the chicks' new owner. She showed us where the chicks will live and we unpacked the babies.
She has a special area just for the young chicks, and all eight settled in quickly! We stood around chatting and sharing chicken stories while the chickens wandered around us. The chicks couldn't have gotten a nicer owner! She didn't even seem to mind the kids terrorizing her chickens! Poor chickens..... :)
The chickens were pretty good about tolerating all the attention they got,
even when they got cornered in a bush!
They were determined to get the one black Cochin!
She was pretty!
The variety of breeds was so fun to check out!
Look at that lovely rooster!
Abby crowed back at him, "COCK-A-DOODLE-DO!!" I don't think he was impressed! :)
The chicks that we raised are going to be very, very happy and very, very well cared for! We were told we could come back to visit the chicks anytime. That made the kids very happy! We told the chicks goodbye and headed home. We all had a great morning! The kids spent the car ride home talking about all the chickens and how nice their new owner was. :)
When we got home, it was time to say hello to these:
We had three of our duck eggs hatch! Now we have fuzzy ducklings to play with!
Aren't they cute? :)
Thank you so much for the sweetest friendliest group of chicks I can tell they were very well loved. They are enjoying their new home & making friends with the older girls. Granny & my little handicapped hen spend the day with them in the backyard in a couple weeks I'll let them blend in with the rest but some of the hens are alittle too pushy for them now.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they are starting to fit in! I know they will be just as spoiled with you as they were here! Thanks again for letting us visit! :)
